At the end of the trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp returns to work in a big movie. He starred in the film “The Favorite”, in which he plays one of the main roles, and at the same time directs the film “Modigliani”. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Modigliani tells the story of the life of the Italian artist Amadeo Modigliani, based on the theatrical production by Dennis McIntyre. The action takes place in Paris in 1916. The protagonist has already gotten used to the idea that all his work is a complete failure, but the events of 48 hours turn his life upside down.
In addition to Depp, Modigliani is produced by Al Pacino and Barry Navidi. The latter have already worked together on the films The Merchant of Venice and Salome, Depp also has experience in producing – in the films The Rum Diary, Minamata and more. He directed only one film: “The Brave” in 1997, in which he played the main role along with Marlon Brando.
Depp noted that he is immensely proud to work on this project:
His [Modigliani’s] life was full of hardships, but in the end he managed to achieve success through tireless work – this is a universal story in which any viewer can see himself.
The release date of the film and the lead actor are still unknown.
