"LitRes" named the most popular books that have recently received film adaptations

The LitRes service told which books, filmed over the past 12 months, are most popular among Russians. Here’s what the top 10 looks like:

  1. Dune, Frank Herbert.
  2. Killer Train by Kotaro Isaka.
  3. Bridgerton series, Julia Quinn.
  4. Series “Reflections of Eterna”, Vera Kamsha.
  5. “Empire V”, Victor Pelevin.
  6. “House of Gucci. A sensational tale of murder, madness, glamour, and greed by Sarah Guy Forden.
  7. “Death on the Nile”, Agatha Christie.
  8. “Where the Crawfish Sing” by Delia Owens.
  9. Reasoning, Jane Austen.
  10. The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank.

If ” Dune ” and “The Bridgertons ” do not require presentation – exactly as proof of the success of their film adaptations – then you might not have heard about the film based on “Killer Train”. It’s all about a different title: the film adaptation with Brad Pitt from the director of “John Wick” was dubbed ” Faster than a bullet ” (Bullet Train).

Russian fantasy “Reflections of Eterna” formed the basis of the series ” Eterna ” from “Kinopoisk”, and in ” Empire V ” based on Pelevin, the main roles were played by Pavel Tabakov and Oxxxymiron.

LitRes notes that film adaptations are boosting sales of source books. Moreover, it works even with the classics: a week before the Russian premiere of the film “ Death on the Nile ”, sales of Agatha Christie’s detective increased by 56%, and 7 days after the release of “Dune”, the original source became 7 times more popular than usual.
