Samsung reinvents the toilet according to the precepts of Bill Gates

Samsung, with the participation of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation , showed a prototype of the Reinvented Toilet. This is nothing more than a reinvented toilet.

It’s essentially a ready-to-run toilet prototype that works without a sewer system. The principle of operation of the Reinvented Toilet is based on the processes of separating waste into solid and liquid, followed by processing into water. To do this, Samsung has created heat treatment and biotreatment systems to burn dried solid waste products and decontaminate liquid ones.

The history of the device dates back to 2011, when Bill Gates proposed to create a toilet that does not require sewerage to connect. The first prototype of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation showed in 2018: it took about $ 200 million to create a toilet. In 2019, the Institute of the South Korean company Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology joined the development.

It is not yet known whether Samsung will produce sustainable sanitary ware, but the company and the Foundation are willing to share patents for this device with developing countries for free.

The fact is that almost half of the world’s population does not have access to amenities such as a latrine with a sewer, and people have to use toilet systems with high unsanitary conditions. According to UNICEF, every year up to 500,000 children under the age of five die due to infection in unhygienic conditions.
